Philosophy
Pocock Design:Environment is an international landscape design firm focusing on the sustainable integration of community, environment and aesthetics.
Much of the company’s design and planning work focus is applying the collective knowledge of traditional sustainable practices as well as modern interpretations from the Middle East, Central Asia and America, adapting them to sites, communities and developments creating results that are sensitive to the local community, ecology, and water shed.
In each piece of work undertaken the company attempts to provide solutions that incorporate long term sustainable advancements. The common link between projects is that sustainability does not work in isolation to the economic, social, ecological and political realms.
As a firm that uses land as a canvas we try to approach the issues of sustainability with consideration to all aspects of community and culture and cater for them all in a sensitive way.
The skill to approach these issues is with the understanding that as designers we inherently bring preconceived values to the design process that may not be in keeping with the community’s aspirations or that are applicable to that environment so we work within a framework of collaboration with local professionals and community groups to develop lasting elegant solutions.
