Calcutta Hope School
The 2004 award winning documentary Born into Brothels was the catalyst for this project being developed. There were two key design components, the first was a strong sense of identity within the landscape that related to the key spaces found within a village including, a stepwell, the plinth and banyan tree and the second was the incorporation of water within the landscape and its consideration as an educational component for greywater reuse. This unique design approach was at the core of the schools children identity and was part and parcel of the healing process for these children.
