Shared Pathways Whanganui

The whanganui share cycleway was an existing planned project that linked the town center to the river and out to the Whanganui river heads. It was also part of a much long tourist cycle trail that linked the head waters of the Whanagnui River to Whanganui township. Pocock Design Environment was asked to review the role in which the cycleway could be used to link areas of different character such as urban, industrial, residential and river environments togther and celebrate the rich history of the area. Pocock design environment developed the alignment, interventions  and materials selection to reflected the character of the different areas along the path systems. The process was used as a catalyst to test design ideas for adjacent open spaces, street spaces and river edge to add amenity for the community.
