Te Putahi Wespac Catalyst

Te Putahi or ‘the meeting place’, is the winning entry of a ’by invitation only’ competition ran by Goodman NZ and Westpac, in which Pocock Design Environment joined team with Context Architects to deliver a beacon of hope for the city devastated by the earthquakes.

The concept for what would be an iconic development on the corner of the Avon River and the Bridge of Remembrance has received a lot of media and public attention, not only because of its prominent location, but also for its aspiration to lead the rebuilding of the Christchurch CBD.

The development did not proceed in the end due to land ownership issues, however the skills demonstrated by the team has led to the establishment of a long term working relationship with Goodman NZ.
